24 FOR 2024 ARTISTS TO WATCH
Piff Marti, New York-born and bred artist, is the prototype for new, independent artists. Despite over ten years of a tumultuous relationship with music, Piff took advantage of the viral video-sharing app TikTok to market his music. Many slow years of dropping freestyles on YouTube finally paid off in 2021 when his record “Boys Do Cry.” went viral on both TikTok and Instagram. With recognition from the likes of T-Pain and Taraji P. Henson, Piff finally got the breakout he deserved and hasn’t looked back since. The Bronx-based artist’s rise to fame isn’t the only unconventional thing about his music career. Piff Marti strays from the pack of new-age rappers with his impressive lyricism and uplifting messages. Piff's tracks often confront emotional and optimistic themes in hopes to articulate those confusing thoughts and emotions. Citing inspiration from artists such as Kanye West, Tupac, and Kendrick Lamar, he hopes to inspire his listeners in the same way his music idols inspire him.

Quotable Lyrics:
Song: “Understand Me” (off of “It Be LIke That Sometimes” Album)
“Tell me what I gotta do to make ya’ll
Understand me
Fuck I look like thinking ‘bout a plan B (for real)
Ya’ll way too concerned ‘bout what it can’t be
Try to make excuse but to be honest you could spare me
Tell me what I gotta do to make ya’ll
Understand me (aye)”
